Scinan, to shed light, be radiant, or illuminate and also be conspicuous. It is the English root of shine. Molas Lake State Park in Colorado was a small place surrounded by towering granite wonders of nature. We arrived well before sunrise and ate banana bread our workshop leader brought for her group. While all eyes were in a couple of spots those spots weren't always mine. Off to the right of this scinan is a closer grouping of trees on which the light shone more ahead of this what I thought of as a little island did at first. This "alpine glow" was amazing on these alpine trees of a golden yellow I can only put in its own category of alpine yellow.
