Having grown up mostly in Europe, Max Bruni obtained an art and design degree in Spain where she spent over a decade of her formative art years followed by a decade in South America. Max was originally an Interior Designer, during which time she merged her two greatest passions of art and architecture when working, while also creating art in various mediums, studying photography in New York, sculpting or welding with the boys in Los Angeles. After a series of life-altering events changed the course of her life, she is finally now following her passion and purpose as a full-time artist where she has spent the last recent years honing her skills in her first true love - painting
Statement
For as long as I can remember I’ve had an insatiable need to create. My influences are Clyfford Still, Lee Krasner, Christopher Wool and Mark Rothko just to name a few.
Out in the world I am tame, considerate, guarded and constrained, never fully myself. When I create I am transported to a place of solitude and ease. When I paint the outside world is less disturbing and I can be selfish and unapologetic, influenced by my intuition, emotion, form and color, all evolving and ever changing. My life is guided by intuition and that translates into my art which is completely intuitive from conception to completion. Rediscovering through mediums such as acrylic, paper, ink and oils a journey through layers and textures that can vary from subtle and complex to bold and beautiful.
My work is an examination of stories throughout decades of pain, loss, resolve, atonement and rebirth. The final piece a solemnization of the smaller endurances we [all] transcend that translate into journeys that remind us, that life is colorful and beautiful.
