Getting to this location at Richland Creek with a large canvas was an adventure in itself! Departing from Whitt Springs, AR, one travels down nine miles of dirt road by car, then two miles of mountain trail on foot, across the slippery rocks in Richland Creek, and finally setting up on the large boulders to paint. I created a box with a shoulder strap to carry the painting on one shoulder, and used a large wooden "Gloucester" type easel carried on the other shoulder. Add to that all my painting gear, and you have a challenge! I left the painting on site overnight for two nights in a large crack in a rock. I like to think the painting absorbed some of the nature sounds even while I was away. This was painted over three days, at the same time each day.
