Carved Mahogany
Distinct wood grain lines thoughout the mask, especially on the forehead, chin, and right cheek. Eyebrow carvings overlap eyes and pupils on both sides. Eyebrow crease carved out between and above the starting point of eyebrows. Eyes and pupils carved in circular shape, with pupil carvings punched out. Wide nose with open mouth. 6 teeth shown in top row and 2 teeth shown in bottom row, one on each side of the tongue.
Carved by artist in the Traditional Japanese Noh mask style. Noh mask's are typically carved with cypress then painted over, but mahagony was chosen to create a distinct style for the artist.
