Hashihime. Based on the Japanese character who is known as the jealous wife, who goes mad with grief and later sprouts horns to become Hannya. Full face mask carved mahogany wood. Part of Japanese Not Mask Mahon Series. Inspired by the Noh mask tradition which is traditionally made out of cypress. Done during the time the artist was traveling back and forth from Japan and the United States.
