Calaquita. Full face mask used in performances by Arizona's dance and theater companies. It has a wide smile with purple and pink outlined teeth and a purple nose. V eyes are outlined in blue flame-like shapes with red and blue gems and green dots underneath each flame. In the center of the forehead is a pink diamond shape with three gemstones in the center above it or two yellow swirls to green dots and two blue droplets. The cheeks have pink V-shaped designs with yellow dots above and below, and the chin has two swirling blue designs with yellow droplets on each side, a yellow dot in the center, and a pink droplet at the base of the chin.
It is made of plaster bandage and paper clay, painted with acrylic paints and ribbon, which ties the mask to the performer.
These masks are part of the Performance Collection, which contains pieces available for loan to use in community and artistic performances.
