Message
Marshall’s masks showcase a wide breadth of his focus, interests, and studies as a mask maker.
These include: motifs and design sensibilities of Chinese Opera (with an incredible fondness for Sun Wukong, the Monkey King); the utilization of half-mask styles and elements seen in Italian Commedia dell'Arte (the characters of Capitano and Pantalone being particular favorites); and an ever growing collection of Mexican-style Calacas for Día de los Muertos.
“I would like to thank Zarco Guerrero, Carmen Guerrero, as well as the entirety of Cultural Coalition for everything they have done, and continue to do, to help me grow and thrive as an ever-evolving artist.”
