Painted in the fan section is a scene from a Van Gogh's painting with sailing boats and sea waves.
The screen was part of the exhibition 'Japonismes' in Bungei Shunju Gallery, Tokyo, Japan 2003, as well as the folow-up exhibition 'Japonismes' at Nippon Gallery in New York City also in 2003. With the theme of 'Japonismes', the interaction of aesthetic principles in a tradition of images of East and West became the artist's inspiration to explore also Van Gogh's and Manet's paintings on their Japanese sources.
