I began this painting Plein air on the Courthouse Butte Loop trail. The energy was palpable and came through in the expression in paint on paper.

We know Sedona for its vortex energy. Bell Rock is one of the four main vortexes in Sedona. It was behind me as I painted the scene in front of me, which sprawled over Cathedral Rock (another of the four main vortexes) and Lee Mountain. A partial view of Cathedral Rock is on the left side of this painting.

There is a scene that looks to be a ritual performed centuries ago. I’ll let the viewer fill in the story details.
