This is the companion piece to the Spirit Guardian painting I did in May.
Twenty years ago in Manchester, Connecticut at Manchester Community College in 2D Design class, an idea for two paintings began. During one project we were to select a drawing to make a completely new design from. Of all things, I selected the Skunk card from the Animal Medicine deck I was using at the time. The message of the skunk felt true at the time.
Using tracing paper to draw around the skunk drawing, I found pleasing shapes. I loved the process of finding shapes that pleased me, then hooking their lines up with other pleasing shapes. I ended up with two drawings from the original design. One was an interior of the design I created.
Journaling brought me to the realization of the Skunk message and many words flowed across the page such as protector, guardian, and hero. This painting is called Action Hero because of its bulk, it reminds me of an action hero one might see in the movies or in a comic book.
