The light is spectular at the end of Sandy Hook during certain times of the year. This particular painting is from a photo taken in the dead of winter at sunset. The pattern left by the water receding produced a very appealing design. The photo was taken several years earlier before the army core of engineers replinished the beaches up and down the NJ shore. Since then, the water recedes in a much different pattern.
