Sometimes I will pull out an unfinished painting, a study, or a demonstration to see if there is something worth making into a slightly different version. This painting is one of those. I knew it had some good bones, but I wanted to make it have a different feeling. The colors of fall and scenes of fall are not my usual inspiration. When I put in the warm oranges and yellows to be a backdrop for my trees, I saw a scene that took me to this completion. I saw those rocks beside the river spotlighted in my head! We have a vision, and the name comes to us, and it makes the painting flow!
