There seems to be something about sunflowers that many people can connect with. I think the flowers look like little happy faces and I always see them turned toward the sun! I had fun painting plein air at this location a few years ago with some of my friends, and took many reference photographs. This was done from one of those photographs and also with a couple of plein air pieces sitting around so I could have that “real life” experience of the actual colors and feeling. I have painted many different scenes from those photos and the plein air studies. Every time I do, I think it might be the last one. No... when I scroll through my photos, I am intrigued one more time and must do another version!
