There is a gorgeous native Rhododendron bush next to the Toccoa River in the Blue Ridge GA area. I took some photos of the groups of flowers. This is a slightly abstracted painting of one of those. It was fun to see the normally realistic way I paint and then to abstract many of the edges of the leaves and the air holes. Making some darker marks in important spots to draw the eye along a pathway was part of my plan. I enjoyed trying something a little different than my normal way.
