Mariel Pohlman was born in Texas and grew up on a ranch in Eastern New Mexico. She worked in the business world for six years before embarking on a world travel adventure that re-ignited her passion for art, specifically illustration. She opened her design studio in 2017 and specializes in large-scale custom murals.
Mariel Pohlman is a Dallas-based multi-disciplinary artist. She established her design brand, “marpohl” in 2017 and specializes in large-scale murals. Her love of public art has been shaped by her time backpacking and exploring in different cities, and she inspires others with her bright and imaginative murals which often incorporate positive messages.
Mariel is a self-taught artist who turned her passion for art into a full time career. After 6 years working in business, she decided to quit and travel solo through Southeast Asia. She returned after 9 months with a stack of sketchbooks. These watercolor and ink travel illustrations became the art portfolio that won her first mural client in 2017. Now she uses her business background to manage her design brand and lead mural projects with a client-centered approach.
Mariel currently works full-time painting murals, and her artwork can be seen all over the DFW area. Her clients include Heineken, Lyft, Wal-Mart, Alto, and more. In addition, she has been featured by D Magazine, the Dallas Observer, and the Dallas Morning News.
