Enchanted Forest
I am a 'forest person', I love to wander amidst the trees of a dense forest, catching occasional beams of sunlight, and feeling embraced by the quiet. In these pieces, I play with the notion of an enchanted forest, most beautiful when seen from the water's edge, with mysterious lights beckoning a visitor to discover what lives within.
Metropolis
I am a suburban boy, but I love tall skyscrapers and energetic urban centers, especially at night. I see them as forests of human civilization, and in these pieces I love to transform their rectilinear shapes and hard edges into something more organic and alive.
Japanese Water Garden
I absolutely love to visit Japanese water gardens. The care and placement of stone, water, trees, and pathways shows respect for natural poetry. In these pieces, I combine my love for the Japanese maple with my obsession with rainbows of deep saturated colors in the waters and leaves.
Magic Circles
A mandala can be an aid to meditation. I take inspiration from beautiful circular works, such as the painted domes in cathedrals, and turn them into something organic, alive with moving colors and detailed shapes. Clocks, wheels, plants - all circular objects can become something more.
Utopian City
I imagine life in a vast utopian world, filled with fantastic architecture of lyrical shapes and dancing colors. The more I build these scenes, the more I want to live here!
Life on Earth
This is a collection where I begin with objects or animals or plants, and then re-imagine them with intricate patterns, colors, jewels, and light. These are all true objects from our precious Earth, just seen with different eyes.
