The Aero Theatre opened in 1939 and was built by the Douglas Aircraft Company, the theatre was open 24 hours a day during WWII so any shift of aircraft workers could see a movie.
In 2005 the Aero was reopened by American Cinematheque after a $1 million dollar restoration and now runs as a art house movie theatre and has become a beloved local theatre in Santa Monica.
