The important roles women serve are often fetishized and sexualized. A woman can be a mother and caretaker with a career and still be simultaneously judged and shamed by her peers for not conforming to an unattainable ideal. In Sinterfold, the artist uses self portraits to portray the reactions women have to the provocative behavior of other females: shock, disgust, and a smirk of superiority.
