2.22.22 I drove out to west Texas to be there for my cousin’s wedding…at 2:22 PM. After the wedding celebration, we all stayed the night at a hotel in the town she lives in and the next morning I had to drive back to Austin in time to pick my kiddo up from school.
Overnight a cold front blew through and an ice storm blanketed half the state in a sheet of ice. But I had to drive home. My car only had 1,000 miles on it…my first ever new car. And I was terrified. After a small skid turning off the highway onto a backroad, my car’s traction kicked in. I never had a problem the entire drive home, going over rolling hills and curves in the ice without issue.
Just west of Santa Anna, past a highway crossroads I’ve passed countless times in my life, I saw a golden eagle swoop down in a field to my right. It was 25 degrees outside and this bird was going for a small critter on the ground. It wasn’t a buzzard or a vulture. 🦅
For some reason that eagle reminded me of my grandfather and the message the eagle brought was one of freedom, power, wisdom, and strength as I face my fears to follow my path. I’m also incredibly grateful for my ancestors, family, and friends who have been there for me in my darkest times. That drive was a reminder that God loves me. And boy, if the last 3 years have been a test of my faith. 🙏🏻
Today on the eve of a new chapter, another trip around the sun, I am reminded of that golden eagle and its message. I am brave. I am strong. I am free. I intend to follow my path to my highest purpose. ✨🌅
