Collection: TOLD STORIES
When I close my eyes, I experience swirling, poetic moments, where real and invented experiences intersect, inspiring the visuals in my art. People, places, thoughts, and shapes from everyday life move, like quick, fleeting frames observed from a fast moving train. My work seeks to capture these unfolding events, which hopefully engage the imagination and help create a sense of place. Unlike my well-travelled youth, I am now rooted in a physical place, South Florida, yet I travel the world daily through ubiquitous and ever-changing digital technologies. Much of my mixed media portrait work focuses on the interaction in the world of women and children of all ages that I have met face to face. Increasingly, I am meeting my subjects through social media. The internet and social media venues are enabling me to tap into a vast array of personal images anytime, without ever meeting the subjects in person. Today’s digital technology is providing a new inspiration to create and produce new forms of work. This photo exchange becomes an active dialogue, combining the use of new technologies with old ideas.
