Margaret Fronimos

Margaret uses abstraction and color to channel emotions, experiences, and her studies in myth, archetype, and energy systems.
MessageBorn in 1987, Margaret's artistic journey began at the tender age of three, captivated by the world of creation. A pivotal moment occurred at five when her father took her to the Detroit Institute of Arts, exposing her to the transformative power of Monet's brushstrokes. Inspired, she spent weeks at home sketching sunsets.
Margaret's artistic spirit thrived throughout high school, though she navigated various mediums. Her vivid and evocative dreams clashed with the constraints of the AP Art Board. Despite her yearning to study acting, fate led her to the world of makeup artistry for school plays whenever the stage eluded her.
Her artistic pursuits took an unexpected turn at GRCC, where she delved into oil painting and 35mm photography. While the technical intricacies of oil painting enhanced her skills, the medium nearly extinguished her passion for the art. Undeterred, Margaret channeled her artistic energy into acting, makeup artistry, and mixology.
2013, fate intervened again when Margaret crossed paths with the late artist John Casey at Red Door Chicago. Encouraged by John, she reignited her commitment to painting, nurturing a newfound dedication to her craft.
By 2016, Margaret embraced a more serious pursuit of visual art, meticulously honing her technique. In 2017, fueled by a passion for her craft, she took a leap of faith, leaving her consulting job to embark on a transformative ten-week residency at La Muse Retreat in the South of France. Before departing, she orchestrated a charity art auction, donating pieces to benefit Sarah's Circle in Chicago.
Upon returning to the United States, Margaret has continued to hone her style and further develop her creation process.
Margaret's art is a journey through abstraction and color, a channel for emotions, experiences, and studies in myth, archetype, and energy systems. A prevailing theme of healing weaves through her work, making painting a meditative therapy for herself. Yet, she believes her viewers can discover their healing through the aesthetic response to her images and the medicine within them.
Margaret is an abstract artist based in Rochester, NY.
Statement
My paintings serve as a ritual meditation and devotion, a visual diary capturing an alchemical process of emotions and inner visions. Each piece blends abstract, saturated layers—a rhythmic dance of colors documenting my experiences and observations.
Inspired by astrology and myth, the themes in my work become a synthesis, weaving together the tapestry of my artistic expression. The central theme guiding my creations is healing—a personal journey and a collective endeavor to offer images to soothe our frayed spirits in an ever-changing world.
In my artistic process, I navigate the terrain of emotions, transforming them into vibrant canvases that transcend the boundaries of my inner landscape. There's a unique connection between my emotional world and inner vision, akin to synesthesia. Every experience is viewed through the lens of color, channeled onto the canvas.
For me, art is not just about creation; it's a conversation—an interactive dialogue with the viewer and, more importantly, oneself. I invite the audience to engage with my work by exploring and discovering their own interpretations.
