"Unused creativity is not benign, it metastasizes" ~Brene Brown
Creativity has to be cultivated. Getting into the studio is essential. The studio provides a safe place to get clarification of feelings. This is at the heart of my practice and any awakenings. The complexity of emotions underneath the linear structure of the painting allows the painting itself to become that awareness, regret and letting go. Through a mindful meditation practice I begin to see so much more clearly. It's not just about having feelings, expressing them on canvas then moving on. Regret is a great teacher and grief is the undercurrent of forgiveness. It's a complex process, and a valuable one.
