Using black and white to construct something in 3D was both exciting and a bit challenging. I had to see how I would like for this piece to balance itself out, since I was only using black and white. It was nice to see how just using black and white could make something look so simple, yet sophisticated without going overboard. I was pleased with the outcome, given that this is one of the first few Papier Mache Masks that I have ever made. The fact that the eyes have sort of a solemn/somber look to it gives off a sort of peaceful vibe. A sort of underlining contentment if you will.
Like the majority of my work, it is an intuitive process. I love that I can have so much fun during the process and have no idea as to how the piece will turn out. And yet, whenever it is time to name a piece, a title/name pops up in my head while attempting to interpret what I may have involuntarily conveyed
