Malcolm Dewey’s paintings are rooted in the landscape of South Africa, especially the coastal towns, quiet beaches, rock pools, open fields and sunlit farmlands that shape daily life in the Eastern Cape and beyond. His work is not about recording a place in photographic detail, but about capturing the sensation of being there — the warmth of the sun, the movement of air, the shimmer of reflected light and the deep shadows that give a scene its drama.

Living in a coastal town, Malcolm is drawn to the changing moods of the sea and shoreline.
