Maïs Jorba's work is a journey through darkness and light, a landscape that confronts us with the shadows of humanity. Sculpted in iron, her black and gleaming forms capture the cruelty, pettiness, and folly of our species. In every curve and edge, a hermetic reality pulses, concealed beneath layers of cardamom and blood, striking at the soul of anyone who dares to look. As Neus Aguado aptly wrote, in Maïs' work, beauty can sometimes reveal itself in a terrible form.

Maïs is bold, fully committed to her own creative abyss. Thread by thread, her work is woven through pain and passion, love and hate, pushing the boundaries between life and death. Sculptor Marta Darder invites us to see in each of her pieces the bravery of one who faces life head-on, capturing its horrors and joys in iron, stone, bronze, wood, enamel, or paper. With each strike of her chisel, Maïs channels that relentless torrent of emotions into art, into an eternal youth that pulses with the force of someone who understands that creation is both a challenge and an impulse that never fades.

In this way, Maïs' biography and art become intertwined, challenging the viewer to unearth the hidden, to feel the terrible, and to recognise what is truly human
