Statement

Several years ago I made a commitment to myself, out of a need to remain connected to my care free inner child, to always be using my creative talent in some way. Intuitive abstract art has become a vital part of this journey.

I begin my processes by approaching a blank page without fear, hesitation, or self judgment. There is no pre-planning, only trusting my intuition, working quickly, and in the moment choosing tools and colors that appeal to me. I experiment with a variety of tools; acrylic paints, markers, crayons, and other mediums.

Throughout my experimentation, the process becomes meditative, calming, and fun. I focus on the lines, the overlapping colors, and the shapes appearing in front of me. This spontaneous approach allows me to tap into the subconscious mind, emotions and instinct. The paintings evolve and reveal themselves to me with a surprise outcome in the finished piece.

I know a work is done when a small piece of my inner child is nurtured and healed, I feel at peace with the outcome.
