I painted this in a quick paint: a 2 hour competition. I later went in and reworked some sections. This building has fascinated me for some time. I did a historical search and sure enough, 135 S MAIN ST, Jefferson Wisconsin has a history. Well who and what doesn't have a history? I have eaten in a Mexican restaurant in the lowest section of this building a half dozen times( I think they might of moved in the past year). Built in 1860, I believe part of the building was floated down the river and erected on the site. it was used as Miss Kitty's Hotel/Motel. Hmm... sounds like there might be some mischief there? I might have to dig deeper into the stories. I think next time I am painting in Jefferson, I may ask for a tour of other parts. As I learn more, I may just have to paint it in more of its whole.
