This textile commemorates the 1971 march to save San Bruno Mountain, which is located in San Mateo County, CA. A backhoe is shown at the left threatening to develop the entire mountain. A Callippe Silverspot and a San Bruno Elfin butterfly have landed on this earth mover in protest. Near the backhoe is a coyote, sauntering toward the marchers and to join forces. Already on the activist team is the fox, located in the lower right-hand corner. A Mission Blue butterfly is shown flying above the people, centrally located on the right. Wildflowers are in bloom along the route: lupine, CA poppies, checkerbloom, iris, and wallflowers. Birds circle above, while an airplane travels across the sky.
