DREAMERS and SEEKERS
Enter a dreamspace of wild beings and strange characters imagined by Lydia Burris.
Dreamers and Seekers is a rotating display of mixed media drawings and paintings, their stories enhanced by words, poetry, and implied narrative. The characters in these pieces stem from a yearning for wild magic in the world. Lydia focuses on visual representations of in-between mental spaces such as dreams, death, emotions, and the imagination. Collage is a way for her to break apart the world and rebuild it in a new way. Cut text allows chaos to direct the loose theme of her narratives and give a new layer of meaning to the pieces. She often finds that the found text digs deeper at her own subconscious revealing what is important in her mind.
Lydia is a long time Indianapolis resident who moved to Chicago in 2021. She has participated in Indy Fringe and in 2010, and her work was selected as the visual theme for the Festival, and her work was displayed on a 29 foot lightbox.
