Lurline Halliman
Kingston, St. Andrew
I am a digital artist from Kingston, Jamaica. I create strikingly beautiful digital art from photographs that I take of a wide variety of scenery and things.
MessageLurline is from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. She is an administrative professional by training and a digital artist and textile designer since 2020. She currently lives in Kingston, Jamaica, and works online with an overseas-based company. Although she has had a creative mind since childhood, she never advanced that interest in school when she had the opportunity to do so. Indeed, she had no interest in art at that time. she did not like art classes because she felt she had no sense of drawing. Her first contest in art was a Sunday school competition that she won by coloring a sketch of a dull little girl in a plain, dull dress and bringing both the girl and the dress to vibrant life. Her interest in art and craft developed in adulthood out of her love for beautiful things and her innate creativity.
For her, beautiful things include beautiful anything: nature in general, floral and textured fabric, things silver and gold, bright colors, and a multiplicity of random objects and appearances that catch the eye. She has an immense love for nature including its offering of animals; flowers; trees and their leaves, branches, and barks; shrubs; bushes, seascape, landscape, and the heavens, and these are the things she captures on her smartphone camera to create her photographic digital artwork.
Lurline started creating craftwork in 2011 and selling them to her coworkers and acquaintances. From there, her love for amateur photography led her to the world of digital art. She has amassed a bountiful repertoire of pieces since she started creating digital art.
Statement
As a digital artist, I create my artwork from photographs that I take.
I use a wide variety of pictures of nature scenes such as the sea, flowers and greenery, the heavens, and animals. I also use pictures of many random things including my own framed and unframed craftwork. I love to work with bright colors; shiny, glittery things, and silver and gold. In the creative process, I may have an idea of what I want the outcome to be, but in many instances, I just allow the photo editing software to work its magic.
My artwork is inspired by my love for beautiful things. For me, beautiful things mean beautiful anything - nature in a wide array of its various forms, a variety of fabrics, and a multiplicity of random objects and appearances that grab my attention.
I believe I am not alone in my love for beautiful things. It is my ardent desire that the pieces I create will inspire in you the level of energy, exhilaration, and joy they inspire in me and that you will find delight in gazing upon my creation.
