South Carolina based artist, Lucy Boland, describes her work as her life’s passion. She has been working as a professional artist for eight years. Through her artistic journey she has studied photography, ceramics and now is now primarily focused on painting. Lucy gains her inspiration from her daily life working as a professional artist and raising young family as the mother of 10 year old triplets. She has been deeply involved in progressing and advocating for artists on a local level in her hometown, Spartanburg, SC. Outside of the studio Lucy can be found cooking, reading or tending to many pets that her heart has acquired; Bae (dog), Wu (dog), Buttercup (cat), Cardi (chicken), Offset (chicken), Culture (chicken), Pollen (chicken), Daisy (chicken), Chris (chicken) and Ben (husband)
Statement
My work is an honest commitment to a learning process through visual understanding and peaceful protest. I often use symbolism, color harmonies, vulnerable lines and truthful narratives in an attempt to spark questions about larger modern themes. Intuitive and energetic in nature, my work reflects a constant evolving thirst for knowledge. My most recent work reflects the power and beauty of feminine energy through this humbling medium of paint and the exploration of textiles. The art I make serves as the vehicle in which I explore
my history and investigate my future. It roots me in this time and space. It is how I process the world we live in and my means of healing.
