Whenever I step into the ocean I feel small and connected to the earth. I once heard a metaphor for divine oneness that related us to drops of water: individual, yet part of a greater whole. I love the gesture of the child in this painting.
Rumi said, “you are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean in a drop.” I think we are both. We are a tiny part of the human race, more similar than different, and we are unique individuals.
