Sunrise for a New Life
I hear a cry like early morning birds
Insistent, hungry
I rub sleepy, dusty eyes
And I go to watch the sunrise
I see pink cheeks blush over the blanket
And I touch peachy hair like wisps of clouds
Delicate, fluffy
Innocent eyes open like light bleeding over the horizon
I am stretching
Further than I thought I could
Radiant, raw
The morning’s yellow glow will fade to blue sky
But as I witness this new life
I feel.
Refreshed, hopeful
A new day has begun
My sun is awake.
