Expansion presents three clover forms arranged across layered planes. The composition places these forms within a structured spatial field, emphasizing attention, placement, and the relationship between foreground and background. Shifts in scale and overlap guide the viewer through the surface and establish a sense of depth without a fixed point of entry.
The work is conceptually paired with Concentration, which focuses on directed activity and focused projection. Together, the two paintings examine how attention moves between inward focus and outward engagement, and how these states influence perception and decision-making within the creative process.
Expansion is part of the larger exhibition Equilibrium, which also includes Concentration, The Subconscious Panel Installation, and Emergent Language. Developed within a shared palette and conceptual framework, these works address different phases of the creative process and the movement between internal states and external expression.
