Begun almost a decade ago from the scraps of quilts made for others, I pieced and densely quilted the original pieces into an intentionally nonconforming swirly shape with rounded outlines and no corners or straight lines at the edges. Pleased with the shape, I ruined it by badly prepping and overdoing heavy machine quilting, creating pulls and bubbles on the top throughout. I set it aside, chalking it up to a lost creative cause. Stuck at home during the pandemic, I decided to tackle this failed work-in-progress and spent many days picking out all the quilting to “free the top” and tackle the creative process again. I learned that you really can
go back and fix almost anything in some creative form. I’m glad I did - I'm quite satisfied with
the result!
