I just love cows and they have been lucky for me lately! This piece won the BEST IN SHOW Ribbon at White River Arkansas Plein Air in the spring of 2018. I had just about given up on getting any good paintings the week I was in Cotter, Arkansas. It rained hard every day. As the show day approached, I drove around in hopes of finding something nice to paint where I would have some shelter - it just wasn't happening. On the very last day the rain finally quit and I painted this one in about 4 hours. I tried to paint another one, but I ran out of time. I was very discouraged about having only one painting to turn in for judging, but at least I liked it! Imagine my delight when the judge chose my painting over approximately 60 others for the BLUE RIBBON! Persistence pays off!
