Crows and Ravens are cheeky, rambunctious, thoughtful, caring, loving, playful, somber and above all else, tremendously intelligent. Lorna is drawn to the intellect reflected in the tilt of their heads and the depth of their eyes. They exude an otherworldliness that she always hopes to capture when drawing them. She chose graphite on paper for this series and for this drawing for the softness and organic nature of graphite on paper and the depth of value possible allowing for the very blackest of black in order to express the cheekiness and all-knowingness of this impressive fellow.
