MessageLorna Beecroft has had a life-long joy of creating with anything at hand. Her serious journey into art began in 2015 when she was finally able to completely immerse herself in drawing and painting. She has followed her own self-directed educational path, attending workshops with world-class artists, taking in-person courses, and using online resources. This combined with hours upon hours of practice has brought her to where she is today, with so much more to try out, skills to enhance or gain, and enjoying every minute of it.
Pencils and graphite are her preferred mediums as the range of possibilities is huge and a level of proficiency has been achieved. Oils and acrylics are the next step as a more fulsome set of skills is worked toward.
Surrounded by animals she loves, when she sees a tilt of a head, subtle expression, or graceful line she feels compelled to capture the moment and feeling in her art. The joy of creating for her is watching the subject materialize as if on its own. The eyes are a mirror into their souls, and she feels success is achieved when others can feel their spirit.
Many awards have been received, including “Honorable Mention” for “Alone She Ponders” in the Summer 555 Light Space Time Gallery show, "Special Merit" in the 2022 Light Space Time All Women's" show for "Beautiful Bella"(chosen out of 1147 submissions from 30 different countries), and "Special Recognition" for "Nap Time" in that same show.
She is an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has been juried into FCA shows with works displayed in their Vancouver, Canada gallery. Her works hang in homes in the US and across Canada and have shown in other venues and galleries.
Statement
In my youth, creating art was always compelling, but not something I understood. Without guidance or belief my doodling was worth pursuing, the idea withered and disappeared. Decades later, a quip from a friend and artist brought the idea thundering back, art is a skill we achieve, not simply talent. Now on a self-directed path of education, the commitment to a regimen of art in any form is part of my daily life.
Surrounded by animals I love, when I see a tilt of a head, subtle expression, or graceful line there is no choice but to capture the moment and feeling in my art.
Pencils and graphite are my preferred media as the range of possibilities is huge and a level of proficiency has been achieved. Oils and acrylics are the next step as I work toward a more fulsome set of skills.
