I love to paint. I started late and now making up for lost time. I've discovered it is never too late to learn anything that you are excited about.
MessageStatement
I love the process of making art. I love paint, the ways the thickness or sheen of it changes, the ways it moves around. I love how a color changes depending on the color you pair it with… reminds me of relationships.
I love how I feel when I am painting and how those feelings evolve. Often, I don’t know where I’m headed; painting in the moment, making simple decisions.
I try to keep moving, responding to how I feel, rather than overthinking. Frequently my paintings have 6-12 layers. When I’m finished, the painting and I have a relationship, built upon the interaction between emotions and memories in my subconscious and the process of putting the paint on canvas.
The contrast between this artistic life and my prior business life is breathtaking. In business, there’s often a right way and a wrong way to work. Moving into the abstract world of the artistic life, I found no such roadmap, no right, no wrong, no rules or boundaries, unless I create them.
At the age of 55 I picked up a paintbrush for the first time. Eight years passed and in 2019, I took three successive classes from an artist I long admired and later joined an intense, all encompassing creative program. These experiences changed my artistic trajectory. I am now ready to share my work, it’s twists and turns and joys. And to include anyone who is interested. Welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my work.
