My name is Lorelle Carr, I am a full-time artist, a painter. Omaha, Nebraska became my home in 2001, I fell in love with the community. I paint in many different mediums, acrylics is the phase I am experiencing now. My paintings vary from large to small scale and I usually work in series. My art is bold, colorful and vivid. In the past few years I have added “project painting” to my list, which has come from a love of speed painting, also known as daily paintings. With these projects the paintings are much smaller and I involve the public. I ask for them to email photos of the subject that has been chosen for the project. When the project begins, I pull a photo from a hat and post on my blog and on social media. I like to post the photo in the morning, who sent it in, where their from and a brief story. In the evening I post the completed painting. Thus far, I have completed six projects, the beginning, “90 Birds in 90 Days”, recently finishing up with Preferred Pets, 30 days of pets. My next and largest project is the 50 States Project. I will be traveling in my converted shuttle bus to each state in the United States. I will render a painting of the state bird, state flower and a mailbox in each painting. Statement
Abstract, realism and my love for speed painting formed what are now called "project paintings". With these projects my art is more productive, creative and playful. I choose the subject and then ask the public to help me by sending photos that they have taken of that particular subject. I hand make all the cradle boards used in the projects. I prepare all the abstract backgrounds before the project begins, this is the meditative and playful part of the process. Painting the subject and a 24 hour time limit covers the realism and the speed painting. The 50 states project the paintings will take one week start to finish, they a re larger and have more subjects.
