Social Cocaine
A conceptual art series by Icon Zar
Every generation has its own drugs. For Millennials, it's not just substances—it’s information overload, the high of digital validation, clubbing escapism, and branding ourselves into burnout.
Social Cocaine is a mirror to our time. It reflects the silent addictions of modern society—addictions to luxury, status, and perception. We are constantly seeking highs: scrolling, spending, comparing, performing.
The series explores how luxury culture, such as the property boom, creates both aspiration and anxiety. It reveals the cracks in our glossy surfaces: the cost of beauty, the weight of appearances, the dark side of abundance.
Through this work, I dissect the invisible substances we consume daily—the social media likes, the real estate fantasies, the curated lifestyles—and ask: What are we really addicted to?
