Lisa Ridgers
Dayton, Ohio
British-born contemporary abstract artist creating calm, layered works that blend painterly softness with modern minimalism.
MessageOriginally from England, Lisa Ridgers has spent much of her career living and creating in the UK, Europe, and the United States. Over more than 25 years as a professional painter, her work has evolved through multiple bodies of abstraction, unified by a deep interest in presence, resilience, and the passage of time.
Ridgers’ paintings have been exhibited internationally and are represented by galleries throughout the United States and the United Kingdom, with placement in private and corporate collections worldwide. Her career includes commissioned works for hospitality and design projects, as well as large-scale original series that continue to explore the dialogue between surface, silence, and endurance.
Today, Ridgers works from her studio in Ohio, developing her newest series, Quiet Journeys. This body of work reflects her commitment to restraint, contemplation, and the layering of lived experience into singular, unrepeatable paintings.
Statement
Quiet Journeys:
Each work in Quiet Journeys begins with deliberate contemplation: a bare surface, an open field. Layers are built, veiled, and pared away until what remains feels like a story unfolding slowly and naturally. Subtle shifts of tone and texture suggest the slow drift of light, the weight of earth worn by time, the pause before a distant horizon.
These paintings are not only about silence and presence, but also about endurance and the human story. They carry flaws, scars, and traces of what has been lived, the good and the difficult alike. Buried, veiled, carried forward, yet the marks remain. Each layer speaks to memory and resilience, to what time erodes and what it preserves.
No more than fifty of these paintings will be created each year. They will not be reproduced in print. Each stands as a singular presence, unrepeatable and authentic, holding the record of every mark, erasure, and moment of stillness that shaped it.
