Large Scale Works
Working on a large scale gives me a sense of freedom, joy, and movement. The surface becomes a place where energy can expand and unfold without limitation. On these larger paintings, the paint seems to move and answer back across the canvas, creating a rhythm and dialogue as I work. Each gesture builds on the next, and the process becomes almost like a dance between myself and the painting, intuitive, physical, and alive.
Small Scale Works
My small scale works are a place for play, chance, and discovery. There’s a freedom in working small that allows me to take risks I might not take otherwise. These paintings often go through complete collapse. I watch them die horrible deaths, get overworked, fall apart, and then somehow come back to life through one unexpected move, pour, scrape, or color shift. That sense of magic keeps me coming back. The small works become a space where experimentation leads the way and the painting can surprise me.
