This painting holds its history. Built through scraping, pressing, lifting, and returning, every layer stays present. It became one of those difficult, killer paintings in the studio, asking more and giving more back. It pushed my understanding of surface and forced me to stay longer than comfort allowed. Color moves in and out of focus, never fully settling, as if it is right before a moment of clarity. I let the texture remain and resisted resolving it away. At a certain point, I had to let it go. What remains is not just the image, but the knowledge it gave me, something that will carry forward and inform the work to come.
