My artwork invites viewers into a contemplative space. Organic forms, suspended from the ceiling and placed on the ground, recreate the experience of being still, standing within a forest while light cascades through the branches. As the viewer walks through this exhibition, they will experience the ephemeral, with the shifting shadows and passing soft colors and organic shapes of the suspended forms with subtle details on the surface, through further inspection reveal bright interiors. By having planned openings, tears, and folds I ask the viewer to move closer to these forms and experience a sense of wonder and introspection. Through repeating forms and the subtle movement of hanging shapes, I want the viewer to feel connected to a semblance of nonverbal communication, as if these shapes, the viewers, and shadows are having a quiet conversation.
