Drawn Knitting came out of a series of workshops I did with a community group.
I was invited to work with the Library knitting circle and I had never knit before. They taught me to finger knit, and we se tup a sofa on the lawn outside the library for a community festival and taught people to finger knit. Then I took all the finger knit elements and arm knitted it into a tapestry for the community. I made a drawing and then this print inspired by the collective nature.
I like that knitting is a repeat, like a screen print is a repeat- the process of textile and print are very literally interwoven and it so the works strength is in in this method and meaning meeting.
