We once stood silent as corral posts and watched this horse whisperer work his gentle magic on this leery horse. I wanted to capture the patience of the cowboy and the wary acquiescence of the horse in my drawing, so I composed it to make the pair appear to be walking down off my paper. (An hour later, this horse willingly wore a saddle.)
