Statement
For me, art is healing. I create to express what I feel, what I see and what I experience in life. Life is not always beautiful. There are times it is scary, awkward or ugly. There are times it is exciting and vibrant, full of positive energy, and at other times it is calm and serene. As a writer, I am drawn to people - from small-town country-gospel singers to Chinese flying acrobats - and am keen to learn what makes them tick. Just as there is always an interesting story behind the people I have interviewed, I could tell you a story for each person - real and imaginary - that I draw or paint. My landscapes represent places I have been and those that exist only in my imagination, while my abstracts serve to express the ebb and flow of energy and emotion that pushes and pulls us through life. Creativity draws me close to the Creator God, who is always at work in the world, creating something new every day. My goal is to help the viewer embrace who they are and the journey they are on, and to enjoy the scenery and life's companions along the way.
