Painting for me has been a lifetime of disciplined study, practice and struggle. I am interested in exploring the complexities of our natural environment and natures architecture of which we are all deeply connected and reliant on to keep our ecosystem in balance. My still life paintings depict natural objects placed in unnatural manmade settings. I paint from real life and imitate my personal experiences using metaphor to convey a message through intellectual interpretation and discovered meaning.
I practice traditional oil and medium application from the 15th century a method of indirect painting, using light manipulation through paint layers, pushing forms and elements to create the sense of three-dimensional space.
