These are wild horses of Alberta, Canada, "wildies". This foal is called Neves, it means born in the snow. The foal was the first one found in the Alberta wilds in the spring of 2018. June Fox, the photographer who took the photo that inspired this painting said that when the horses saw her they were quick to vamoose to keep the baby out of sight. Neves' dam is Leela and her sire is Pindann. When I first saw June's photo I felt a sense of peace, calm, and family. Those are the things I tried to capture in this painting. Special thanks to June Fox for allowing me to use her photo as inspiration for this painting.
